Hebrews 4:12
"The word of God is living and powerful and sharper than a double-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Isaiah 55:10-11
"As the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, and making it sprout, produce fruit, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I desire, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."
This passage tells us God's words (plans and promises) are as sure to be fulfilled as the fact that it rains and snows. Precipitation falls from the sky to the earth, but it does not return without replenishing the earth and producing fertility. The same is true of God's word. It returns to Him but in the process causes spiritual growth in humanity.
Psalm 119:89
"Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven."
2 Corinthians 1:20
"All the promises of God in Him (Christ Jesus) are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us."
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Faith acts as proof or confidence for spiritual realities that cannot be seen with our physical eyes.
Romans 10:17
"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
Psalm 32:8
"I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will counsel you with My eye upon you."
2 Timothy 3:16-17
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work."
You will never outgrow your need for the Word of God. Jesus is the Word. Turn to Him and pursue Him more every day.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him, will not perish but have eternal life."
Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death, the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
If you serve a master (employer), you can expect to receive wages. Sin pays wages – death. God also pays wages – holiness and everlasting life. When you abide in Christ, you produce fruit that glorifies God and brings joy to your life.
Slavery and redemption are common biblical metaphors for spiritual death and salvation. The Hebrews were once in bondage (literal and spiritual) in Egypt. God broke their bondage so they could come out from Egypt and worship Him (Exodus 7:16; 12:29-42). Similarly, the Roman Christians were once in spiritual bondage to false gods, but God liberated them so they could be slaves of righteousness. Paul tells the church in Rome there are two masters: you can be slaves of sin, or slaves of God. Slaves of sin do not recognize any obligation toward righteousness, but abandon themselves to a process of moral deterioration that results in death. Slaves of God, on the other hand, devote themselves to holiness, a road that leads to everlasting life.
Galatians 6:7
"Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap."
